It's a strange spot. An ox-bow lake in the middle of nowhere. It's not just the name which is a bit haunting.
They've opened a McDonalds in Skipton and, bizarrely, on the approach to Dead Eye all you can see ahead are the meadows which form the washlands and, in the far distance, a bright red sign... it kind of accentuates the loneliness of the scene.
