Wow! Fabbo picture. I'd love to be able to paint (sigh)
Your work of art is wonderful too, and there's nowt wrong wi that swede! Better than any swede I ever grew. Was in Tesco yesterday and you shoulda seen the size of their celeriacs. Made me feel reet inadeqate! From Lincs so that's ok
Aww ta Wards.
Never see what the fuss is with swede - I just plant it on any old rubbish soil and it does fine. Admittedly, Swede Airlie did loads better than any other variety I tried last year.
Apparently the secret with celeriac is to sow early - I did mine in early feb this year. I have to say it's slow growing though - can't be more than 2cm high - so I'm not convinced... It's so good in soup though, I'm determined to crack it.
I picked a decent sized celeriac yesterday, along with some leeks, so decided to make a cheesy leeky, celeriacy, white wine sauce to dollop on pasta. Very good it was too!
My celeriac are pricked out and growing ever so slowly in the unheated greenhouse. One has even developed a third leaf. Bit like watching paint dry innit!
speaking of celeriac I've produced some good looking plants and am optimistic for a decent crop this year.
Want to try that remoulade that Rick Stein made on telly
